What are the Google Scholarships & Awards Programs?
As part of Google's ongoing commitment to broadening participation in computing and technology, we are pleased to provide scholarships and awards to encourage students to excel in their studies and become active role models and leaders. Google currently offers scholarship and award programs to students studying computer science and related technical fields at universities in Australia, China, India, Japan, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, the United States, and Canada. Where are these programs offered?
Google currently offers scholarship and awards programs to students studying computer science and related technical fields at universities in ustralia, China, India, Japan, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, the United States, and Canada (see www.google.com/jobs/scholarships for complete details). Students must be enrolled, or planning to enroll, in a university in one of these locations in order to be eligible for a Google Scholarship or Award. Please note that if you do not meet this eligibility criteria you will not be able to complete the online application.

How do I apply for a Google Scholarship or Award?
All students must apply using the Google Scholarships & Awards Programs Online Application, and complete each of the required steps. Requirements will vary for each program.

Eligibility requirements do vary by program. Please visit the online application homepage for program specific information.

How can I get help if I am having difficulty logging into the online application?

If you are having difficulty logging into the online application, please contact the e-mail alias for the specific program you are applying to (program information is linked off of the Google Scholarships & Awards Programs Online Application) with the following information:

  • Full Name
  • Email address that you used as your login
  • Problem you are experiencing

Are transcripts required?

Yes, many of the Google Scholarships & Awards Programs require that you submit a copy of your official or unofficial transcripts. The online application tool will allow you to upload a PDF copy of your transcripts directly to your application file. Please check each program's specific requirements for more information.

Are letters of recommendation required? Can I submit them with my online application?
Yes, many of the Google Scholarships & Awards Programs require that you submit letters of recommendation in support of your application. When you complete the online application process, you will be asked for the relevant information for each of your references. Each contact you enter will receive an email from Google with instructions on recommendation how to submit their letter electronically. Please check each program's specific requirements for more information.

Can I mail a copy of my transcripts or letters of recommendation to Google?
No, please use the online application to submit all required documents. If we need a hard copy of your documents for any reason, we will contact you directly.

What should I do if my contacts listed for reference letters did not receive the email from Google?

Applicants will be able to enter references and still work on completing the application. Your contacts will receive the email invitation at 9:00 pm Pacific Time, after they are added to your application.

  • To ensure they receive the email, please encourage your contacts to add googlescholarships@eresources.com to their email safe lists to ensure the email does not end up in their spam box.
  • Your contacts can also visit the Reference Portal and use the Forgot Password function to generate another email invitation. This will enable them to log in and add the letters.
  • Your contacts will also receive a weekly reminder email reminding them to visit the Reference Portal and add their letters. Reminder emails are sent weekly on Monday at 9:00 pm Pacific Time.

How do I know if my application has been received?
You will receive email notification once your application is complete and has been submitted online

I submitted my application but haven't received email notification!
Don't Panic. Check your spam folder to make sure that the email did not make its way in there. 

Do Google Scholarships & Awards include an internship with Google?
No, please note that receiving a Google Scholarship or Award does not include an internship with Google. The application and selection process for internships or full time opportunities is separate from the scholarship application and review process. If you are interested in opportunities at Google, please let us know and a Google representative will contact you via email. You can also visit the Google student website for more information.
